Our God is Greater, Our God is Stronger, Our God is Awesome and Mighty in Power

At the heart of World Relief's mission is: empowering the local church to serve the most vulnerable. It is because of such a mission, that World Relief deeply desires to see the church become the source of strength in communities, helping restore lives to the wholeness God desires for all His people. Given that the church in Haiti literally is the center of society, what an open door this has given the church of God for such a time as this!
During the painful weeks following the earthquake, churches throughout Port-au-Prince, Haiti became housing hubs for thousands of people. A few churches opened their doors to foreign medical teams, thus becoming hospitals and safe havens for those who were wounded. Even today, the church of Haiti remains the source of strength and healing for the millions of burdened lives and broken spirits awaiting any sign of hope. Yet, we must realize that the church in Haiti needs us now!

Exodus 17:11-12 provides us with such great imagery into what this Biblical model of empowerment can look like even today in Haiti.

11So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. 12But Moses' hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set.
Can't you just see it? It's the strength and ability to persevere which Moses receives from Aaron and Hur despite fatigue, feeling discouraged, or maybe even the temptation to give up. It's the amazing partnership created throughout the church when one individual, community, or even entire society may be weak, leaning on the support of another yet more able at the time. It's the church of God in America, reaching to the church in Haiti, coming along side them in humble service and love, upholding their arms and gently whispering in their ear, "Do not give up! Our God is greater, Our God is stronger, Our God is healer and awesome in power....".
For such a time as this we have come together, chosen this green chair to sit in, and looked upon Haiti with concern and prayer, and for this I thank you. Thank you for being part of this team, for remaining with us as we grow and learn- taking time to listen to these stores, and  choosing to keep the people and church of Haiti on your mind. As you do, you greatly encourage the Haitian people, upholding their arms, enabling them to make it through this time victorious!

We look forward to the day when the people and church of Haiti overcome this current circumstance and know with great faith that they are not alone!
