Children of God

Today started amzingly as do they all.  Morning prayer times are especially powerful for me and today was no different.  We have a fantastic team that is being lead on this mission by three terrific ladies, Sara, Tara and Ashley who are really the champions of the outreach program for the children of Carrefourre Feuille.  1Thessalonians 5:12 says "Honor those who are your leaders in the Lords work.  They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance.  Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.".  These three are doing such an amazing job and we are so thankful God has sent them to walk the same path as we.

The children at the school today were once again amazing.  They remembered when asked about yesterday's lesson about Josiah!  As part of our "cycle breakers" curriculum, it is important for children to know that their past history in their family and/or communities does not have to repeat itself in their lives.  Today's lessons talked about how Josiah began to break the cycle and seek God for himself and that he began to learn to apply Gods word and how with Gods help, they can learn to break the cycle too!

In my group, we have 3-8 year olds whose attention span of course is very short so we made it fun by having a treasure hunt and finally to find the treasure, they had to open the safe and find a bible.  Pretty powerful stuff but we are challenged with making it interesting for very small children.  So we also colored a bit today and sang some songs while waiting for lunch to arrive for the children.

Of course we had recreation time as posted earlier and we and the children had a blast!  At the end of the day we had a visit from a very special lady in the community.  Madame Toumachet is 107 years old and was telling us the amazing story of her life.  What an honor to meet a very special lady.  And she was telling us that she wanted to open up her business again after the earthquake destroyed it!  Unbelieveable.

I can't stop inserting superlatives into my postings but this place is amazing (there I go again) and this mission has truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life.  Stay tuned for more stories from from Haiti...

Always in God,

John (Jack) Bell
